Arise Woman Foundation is a young, dynamic, woman-led organization co-founded by Akite Agnes, dedicated to empowering and uplifting women, especially those facing socio-economic challenges. Through a variety of initiatives, the foundation provides exposure, mentorship, and resources to help women unlock their full potential and become leaders in their communities.
At Arise Woman Foundation, we believe that when women rise, communities thrive. By focusing on mentorship, skills development, and advocacy, we aim to create a future where women are empowered to take control of their lives and become agents of change, not only for themselves but for their communities as well.
What We Do:
One of our flagship initiatives is the Arise Woman Comedy Jam, an annual event held around International Women’s Day to celebrate the achievements of women. This event not only showcases the talents and contributions of women but also raises funds and gathers donations for women-led organizations and community projects.

Key areas of focus include:
- Raising Funds for Women-Led Organizations: Money raised from the Comedy Jamhas supported organizations such as Home of Hope in Jinja, Uganda, which cares for children with neurological impairments. In 2020, funds from the event were directed to a women’s SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative) in Lamwo District, Uganda, providing support to women living with HIV.
- Mentorship and Skill Development: We connect women with successful role models and offer training in skills like financial literacy, business development, and leadership. These programs are designed to build the confidence and competence women need to succeed in personal and professional endeavors.
- Empowering Women in the Community: Through grassroots initiatives and large-scale projects, we empower women to overcome barriers such as poverty, health challenges, and gender inequality. Our goal is to create lasting change that allows women to thrive and become leaders in their own communities.

Our Impact:
Since its inception, Arise Woman Foundation has made a tangible difference in the lives of women across Uganda. The funds raised through initiatives like the Comedy Jam have provided:
- Financial support and resources to women-led organizations, including Home of Hopeand others that support children with special needs.
- Assistance to women with HIV in Lamwo District, helping them start and strengthen community savings groups.
- Increased awareness about neurological impairments and the need for inclusive care and support.
As the foundation continues to grow, we are committed to expanding our reach and creating lasting, positive change in the lives of women and their communities.
